Local and Federal Programs and Services

Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program
Do you have high-speed internet service at home? If not, you may be eligible for discounts on service through the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. It is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. Check if you qualify.
Federal Lifeline Program
This program provides subscribers a discount on monthly telephone service, broadband Internet access service, or voice-broadband bundled service purchased from participating providers.

Home Internet

AT&T Internet
Expanding eligibility based on income to households participating in National School Lunch Program/Head Start.
Spectrum
Spectrum offers an internet assist program for qualifying households.

Free Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available at several locations. Practicing social distancing is required for all Wi-Fi locations below. Residents can bring their laptops and other electronic devices to these locations to do research, apply for jobs, and browse the internet. Students also have the opportunity to complete homework, check college blackboards for assignments, and connect with friends and family via social media.

City of San Antonio Wi-Fi Locations

The City of San Antonio has several locations that have free public Wi-Fi. Please view the flyer for a map of Wi-Fi locations(PDF, 3MB) and availability.

Libraries

7:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. daily in the parking lot at 28 San Antonio Public Library locations
Note: Kampmann Portal, Pruitt, Forest Hills, and San Pedro locations not included.

The San Antonio Public Library continues to provide Contact-Free Pickup on holds and computer sessions by appointment at all locations (McCreless and Memorial have adjusted hours and services during renovation; San Pedro and Forest Hills will be closed during renovation). Please note, services are subject to change based on local health guidance.

Parks
Note: Community Centers are not open to the public.
  • 5:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. daily in certain areas of some City of San Antonio parks
  • Friedrich Park hours: sunrise to sundown daily
World Heritage Areas
  • San Antonio Missions National Historical Park: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily
    Masks are required in all indoor areas at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including in the conventos, on park trails, and along park sidewalks. The park store inside the Visitor Center (as of March 24) and restrooms are open, but some additional park facilities remain closed. Please take trash/recycling with you.

Other Wi-Fi Locations

North East ISD
Starting April 20th, North East ISD elementary school campuses will offer free Wi-Fi access points for students. This will provide students with daily internet access from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m.
East Central ISD
To support their students and staff during the Stay At Home initiative, they are providing Wireless Internet Access in the parking lots of their campuses. 

Cellular/Wireless Service

  • AT&T Wireless - Through June 30, 2021, AT&T will continue waiving data overages for these customers, as well as keep the expanded eligibility of Access from AT&T to qualifying households and those participating in the National School Lunch Program and Head Start.
  • Boost Mobile
  • Cricket Wireless - The need for affordable data access options is more important than ever as the country adjusts to a new normal. Many are looking for ways to reduce their monthly spending due to loss of income or other hardships, and Cricket is here to help.
  • T-Mobile Wireless - T-Mobile introduced T-Mobile Connect, its lowest prices smartphone plan ever, and added lower-cost options for Metro by T-Mobile to help ensure everyone has an affordable option to get and stay connected during these challenging times.
  • Verizon Mobile

Goodwill San Antonio's Technology Access Program provides refurbished computers to individuals and organizations in our community.
