COVID-19 Workforce Recovery Program

The City of San Antonio has partnered with Workforce Solutions Alamo, Alamo Colleges, Project Quest, Restore Education, Family Service, Chrysalis Ministries, and SA Works to offer free workforce training and education to San Antonio residents who have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the hardest hit industries of hospitality, food service, and retail (based on unemployment claims).

Step 1.Getting Started

Eligibility Requirements

City of San Antonio resident
Please provide documentation with one of the following:
  • Utility bill
  • Driver's license
  • Military documents
  • Proof of residency from a homeless shelter 
Negatively affected financially due to COVID-19
  • Confirm that you have been affected by COVID-19. 
  • No documentation is required.
Authorized to work in the United States
Please provide documentation with one of the following:
  • Social Security Card
  • U.S. Birth Certificate
  • U.S. Citizen ID Card
  • Resident Citizen ID Card
  • Employment Documentation - Department of Homeland Security
  • Native American Tribal Documentation

Step 2.What You Need to Know

Training

Following a skills and career assessment, participants may begin training in one of the following:

  • high school equivalency preparation
  • short-term training
  • long-term training
  • on-the-job training

Stipend

Qualified participants are eligible to receive stipends of $15 per hour for actual time spent in an approved training program. 

  • 6 hours minimum per week
  • 30 hours maximum per week
  • up to a maximum of $450 a week
