Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine
Published on August 09, 2022
The Novavax vaccine provides another option for those who are 12 years and older and have not received a COVID-19 vaccination. "If you have been waiting for a COVID-19 vaccine built on a different technology than those previously available, now is the time to join the millions of Americans who have been vaccinated," said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, CDC's director. The Novavax vaccine received CDC’s recommendation and is now the fourth COVID-19 vaccine being offered by San Antonio Metro Health.
Novavax primary series is given in two doses, 3–8 weeks apart. People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should also receive 2 doses, given 3 weeks apart (a 3rd primary dose is not currently authorized). Novavax is not available as a booster vaccine. There are Metro Health pop-up clinics available across the County. To learn more about Novavax visit the CDC website.
