New COVID-19 Boosters
Published on December 14, 2022
Metro Health Clinics and pop-up vaccination sites are offering the updated (bivalent) COVID-19 boosters to those ages 6 months and up.
Bivalent booster vaccination eligibility
- After 2 months since completing your primary series or since your last booster
- Now is a good time to get your updated bivalent vaccine. The updated COVID-19 vaccines are available at Metro Health sites.
- If you already got one or two boosters — you are eligible for the updated booster two months after your last dose.
- If you had COVID — you will experience stronger and broader protection than anyone else from this shot. CDC says you can wait 3 months after your infection to get the booster.
Updated boosters are especially important for people ages 65 and up, whose hospitalizations are as high during Omicron as they were during the Delta wave. For all other age groups, hospitalizations have dropped significantly.
Even if you're not hospitalized, infections can make you feel lousy, disrupt your plans, and raise your chances of long COVID, so we still recommend caution indoors when community COVID levels are "High."
