Honoring Black Maternal Health Week

Metro Health commemorates Black Maternal Health Week from April 11-17 to increase awareness and community-building to amplify the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people. The week is intentionally held during National Minority Health Month, a time to promote the importance of improving the health of minorities.

Metro Health invites the community to its inaugural Day of Celebration event in honor of Black Maternal Health Week on April 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Philip’s College - Sutton Learning Center Bldg. 10, 460 S Mittman St. The event will focus on educating and empowering Black women who are of childbearing age or expecting by providing information and resources for healthy pregnancies.

Metro Health invites the community to enjoy a complimentary dinner and a panel discussion on healthy pregnancies. Topics that will be discussed include the state of maternal health in Texas and policy, healthy pregnancies, and more. The event will also include COVID-19, flu, and pneumonia vaccines as well as raffle giveaways. Also, Fiesta medals will be available!
