Fiscal Year 2022 Annual Report

Metro Health is pleased to announce it launched the FY 2022 Annual Report in early April. The report provides an overview of the department’s accomplishments and the delivery of foundational public health services, ongoing response to COVID-19 pandemic, and first year accomplishments from its SA Forward strategic plan.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed many gaps and required a bold public health response. Informed by pandemic lessons learned, Metro Health launched its SA Forward Plan in April 2022 as a blueprint to help meet the needs of our most marginalized neighborhoods to foster resilience and healing, and to make San Antonio stronger, healthier, and better able to respond to future public health crises. SA Forward addresses the pressing issues learned from the COVID-19 pandemic including health disparities, social justice, public health capacity, and the state of the department’s workforce.

Metro Health’s COVID-19 response has been going strong since the pandemic’s onset. Our public health staff, community health workers, epidemiologists, health care workers, and contact tracers have been working tirelessly. Metro Health and local partners have fully vaccinated 74% of San Antonio/Bexar County's eligible population, a rate higher than the national average. The essential public health work never stops, not even during a pandemic.

Carrying out the vision of healthy people thriving in a healthy community is now part of the SA Forward accomplishments as documented in the Fiscal Year 2022 Annual Report.
